Defining Your Style: Fashion and Interiors Go Hand and Hand

With these blogs, I'm not only working to entertain my own creative desires in the hours my child is peacefully sleeping and not hanging off of me, but my goal is for this to be a lifestyle reference guide for you guys. A truly curated collection of all the beautiful things that seek to define the Modhemian brand, that if your reading this, implies you already have a taste for. I've cut through all the internet fat to serve up a lean mean platter of all the things that I love, find inspiring, that get my blood pumping and my limbs tingly, with hopes you'll feel the same. That's a big reason why I like doing these round ups. Weeding through all the ugly to bring the pretty front and center, in a way that's practical and attainable for the every girl trying to bring a little modern bohemian style to their life.

With that lovely intro, I ask a question; Have you guys realized that some of your favorite clothing stores are also killing it in the home furnishings world? I've always felt strongly that fashion and interiors go hand in hand, so it makes sense that some of our favorite clothing brands are dipping into the housewares biz. You dress yourself to exercise your personality and creativity, help define who you are to the world and to feel good about yourself, as well as for the obvious, you can't go outside naked thing. In this same regard, you dress your home in a way that represents your style, a true reflection of yourself and your creativity and if you're anything like me, you like to envelope yourself with things that make you happy, calm and feel pretty, both in your wardrobe and in your home. When I meet potential clients for that first consultation, if they feel overwhelmed and are having a hard time articulating a focus or theme they want in their home, I tell them to look in their closet. What colors, patterns, textures are predominant and what is the overall message shining through? It's a pretty good indication of what they'll be drawn to and feel comfortable with for their interior decor and its a great place for me to get a hold of someones taste and personality on the very first meeting.

With that maybe obvious correlation addressed, let's take a look at what stores you should keep under the radar for all your everyday home good needs.....but mostly wants.

We all know and love H&M for their easy, cost conscious, trendy fashions, but did you know they have a killer home line? Bedding, pillows, storage and tchotchkes that are all in budget and offering a wide array of modern aesthetic options. A little masculine, a little femme, and a lot of Modhemian flavor. Check out some of my tops picks from this season's line.

Another vendor that I am really feeling, as expressed in earlier posts, is Urban Outfitters. Their clothes are fun and there are some winners in there for a women in her 30s. A little trendy and kinda quirky but their home section is dynamite. I've ordered a ton of stuff from them and I'm usually shocked by the quality for the price point. One of my new favorites is ZARA. I don't know what took me so long to get on board with this, maybe I thought it was a bit too Euro trash? Its not! Their latest RAW EDIT campaign is everything I live for! They not only have great basics for me and my wardrobe but the cutest baby clothes EVER! I'll feature that in a later post. Now, their home stuff is making me super happy. Check out what I'm talking about from ZARA Home.

I mean, you can't beat that with a stick! So many pretty neutral interior options and all within a normal person's price point. Typically you wont find their homes goods in store, they're online only, so check out the reviews before you purchase and check the return policies. Rest assured these are all low risk items, nothing custom or too big so no biggie if you hate once you get it. Now get your online shopping on!

Ciao for now!
