Its easy to commentate on what we like and don't like about interiors, fashion and beauty, load up our pinboards with things that inspire us and styles we want to emulate but its another thing to forecast the next big thing. Listen, I am by no means a tastemaker, but I do sometimes have little tickles in my gut that attract me to certain elements I come across in my travels. Maybe its just the fact that its something obscure and different that I haven't seen regurgitated all over the internet, or maybe its just something that I think is kick ass so therefore other people will feel the same way? Either way, here are a few such things that I have spotted that I think, that I hope, you will be as into as I am.

Cork

I know this is nothing new, another retro revival making a come back. Right on, love me some vintage. Cork has the tonal color of wood, it is bark after all, the smooth texture of stone, the speckeled-ness of terrazzo and the weight of, well, cork. It blends seamlessly into most settings and whether as an accessory or stand alone piece of furniture, I'm loving how this modern finish is poppin up, hehe, all over my feed. 

Patchwork Kilims

Its like a modern bohemian take on grandma's patchwork quilt, but with the scraps of hemp kilims that have been methodically sewn together. Not all patchworks are created equal however. I like the more muted toned guys, that aren't so perfectly symmetrical in their segments. I'm also more drawn to the patchworks with a subtle stripe or other tribal accent to emphasize their one of a kind-ness. If you can, try to find one with a lining sewn on the bottom and finished edges, otherwise it could fall apart through normal wear and tear, which would be a sad, sad day. I have a strong feeling that we will be seeing more of these popping up in design boards, well, at least in my own. Bonus feature, they can be cheaper then other kilims in the same size and material. Also love to support the recycling of otherwise shreds that would have been thrown out for their awkward sizes. Saving the planet, one kilim at a time people. 

Boobs

I mean who doesn't like boobs, amiright? These past almost 10 months of breastfeeding have given boobs a whole new meaning in my world, Pop can attest. I'm not talking big, stiff, perky, fake boobs (although if you have those, you do you babe), I'm talking real life, asymmetrical, oblong, squishy, bouncy, 36 long boobs. Boobs that sustain life, that hold up a dress and that can still take a mans attention away from damn near anything. Power boobies! This is not my proclamation that I'm joining a nudist colony or that I want to join the "free your breasts, we are oppressed" movement. Any one who knows me knows I'm a life long never-nude. I am however loving the simple boobie prints that are popping up out there. Boobs on sheets, towels, mugs, shirts and rugs, I love it all and I think is a quirky way to make me smile and some other people really uncomfortable, which I kinda like.  

Wicker Cactus Statue

Well, you know I have a deep love for designing children's spaces so for this reason, and also my random eclectic weirdo reasons, I'm kind of infatuated with these over sized wicker cactus statues. I first spotted them in The Tiny Canal Cottage and was struck by how stupid cute it was. She even put a little bandana around its neck, like come on! From there on I have thought maybe this could work in an adult space. I have yet to see images of that such scenario but if we can make a life sized sheep statue look chic in high end retail spaces (Jenni Kayne) then why not the darn cactus. Works inside or out, its light weight, neutral, textural, and creates great vertical interest. Cuteness without all that prickliness. Am I alone? I don't care, we're getting one.
